How do I use the map on the front page? When you move the mouse over the map, the OS map sheet of that location will be highlighted. To the right of the map, a list of settlements for the highlighted area (OS map sheet) will be shown. Click the mouse on the desired OS map sheet. You will then be transfered to a page where you may view the archive maps for the selected OS map sheet.

How do I use the place search? The place search tool appears at the top of every page.

Enter the name of a settlement in the place search box and press the enter key. If a settlement is found the results are displayed.

The results show us data about each archive map, that includes the search.
Click on the map button to display the archive map.



How do I select the required archive map? Image of archive map screen

The list of map tiles on the left are filtered by OS Map sheet.

The map sheet is made up of 16 map tiles, these may then subdivided into smaller tiles.

Use the overview map to locate the tile for the area of interest.
Click the tile name in the list to see the available archive maps for that tile by year.

Click the date to display the archive map.


How do I use the tools on the archive map screen?
Icon Name Description
Zoom Selected Area Zoom Selected Area Click and hold while dragging the cursor to draw a rectangle around the area you want to zoom in on, then release mouse button. The view changes to zoom in on the rectangle you defined.
100% 100% Displays page at actual size.
Page Width Fit Width Displays page so that entire width fits in view.
Page Fit Fit Page Displays page so that entire page fits in view.
Zoom In and Zoom Out Zoom In and Zoom Out Display the page at next zoom level in or out.
Select Zoom Drop-Down List

Select Zoom Drop-Down List

Offers 100%, Fit Width, Fit Page and other zoom levels for quick selection.
Pan Pan Click and hold anywhere on the page, then drag image to view other desired areas.
Previous and Next page Previous and Next page Display the previous page or the next page.

Why do I need to install the DjVu plugin? The Treasure House site requires the one time installation of the DjVu plugin.
